Principal's Welcome

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of The School of Math, Science and Technology through Arts (MSTA).The 2019-2020 school year marks my fourteenth year in the New York City Department of Education. During my career I have worked as an English as a New Language Teacher, Humanities Department Leader and had the privilege to serve as the Assistant Principal for four years right here at MSTA.  I consider myself an advocate for the young men and women I serve and will work collaboratively to ensure that we are creating the conditions for their continued success.

I look forward to deepening our commitment to ensuring that all of our students develop their intellectual capacity, academic skills, and social competence so that they will be prepared to effectively negotiate the demands associated with living in an ever-changing 21st century.  Beyond the rigors of their academic program, it is our aim to instill within each student the essential principles of readiness, respect, and responsibility so that they will become productive and contributing members of our increasingly global society.

It is essential that we work together during the school year in order to ensure our students continued success and I encourage you to check our school website (www.msta318.org) to keep up to date on all things MSTA.  I heartily welcome your conversation and positive input throughout this year. Let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work.  I look forward to celebrating our collective successes this year.

Sincerely,

Suleika Dotel
Principal, I.A.
